TOKYO -- Ivy League alumni continued the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with another day of impressive performances across a number of sports.

A pair of top-10 finishes in athletics highlighted the day with Princeton's Lizzie Bird capturing a ninth-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. The performance was backed up by Cornell alum Rudy Winkler, who finished seventh in the men's hammer throw.

Fellow Cornellian Kyle Dake went 1-1 on the wrestling mat and will keep his bronze medal hopes alive tonight in the repechage round. Dake won his first bout 4-0 before falling in the quarterfinals.

In the pool, Team USA Water Polo, led by Princeton's Ashleigh Johnson, notched a 15-11 win in the semifinals to move into the gold medal match (Saturday, 3:30 a.m. EST).

With a few days remaining in the Games, the Ivy League has already totaled eight medals with several athletes still in the running to add to the count.
